Joining Alaadeen are the Deans of Swing - trumpeter Danny Campbell, trombonist Tim Perryman, keyboardist Reggie Thomas (on piano and B-3 organ), guitarist Willie Matthews, bassist Tyrone Clark, and Drummer Donivan Bailey.A gifted composer, Alaadeen wrot e four of the eight tunes on this goodtime straight-ahead offering. His “Blues for RC” opens the set with the big sound of his tenor recalling the ghosts of Midwestern tenors past. “Wayne Himself” takes a couple of twists and turns, settling in for a slow-burning swing. “Big Six” is a savory helping of the blues, and “Big Un” showcases a more contemporary side of Alaadeen.
